Effectively Heal Thyroiditis

Why EliteAyurveda

How are we able to Treat Thyroiditis

Thyroiditis is a condition of inflammation of the thyroid gland. The thyroid gland is a small, butterfly-shaped gland at the front of the neck. It produces and releases thyroid hormones, and is a part of the endocrine system. Thyroiditis is a group of conditions that cause inflammation of the thyroid, which can lead to under- or over-production of thyroid hormone. The symptoms of thyroiditis include fast heart rate, unexplained weight loss, anxiety, increased appetite, irritability, tremors, trouble sleeping, sensitivity to heat, etc. It is caused due to an attack of autoimmune disease or antithyroid antibodies.

“ The thyroid, according to Ayurveda, is located near the Vishuddi Chakra (in the neck area) and is composed of Pitta and Kapha Dosha. The thyroid is the fire energy (Agni) center, and its functions include stimulating psychic and physical growth, secreting hormones, balancing metabolism, and controlling body processes. The thyroid is a particularly sensitive organ that responds quickly to stimulation and stress. When Pitta and Kapha Doshas are vitiated as a result of autoimmune conditions, thyroiditis is at an onset. The conditions mentioned in the ayurvedic text which are responsible for thyroiditis are- Udanavrita Samana, Kaphavrita Udana, Medoroga, and Agnimandya.

The treatment of thyroiditis in Ayurveda focuses on the elimination of the root cause of the condition. This involves the administration of medications to kindle the digestive fire, emesis, and light diet with the use of Rasyanas- tissue rejuvenation formulations. It also includes unctuous purgation, enema, Vasti chikitsa, Udwarthana, etc. The treatment also involves the intake of herbal formulations including Kanchanara, Ashwagandha, Shigru, Varuna, Guggulu, Brahmi, Apamarga, Nirgundi, etc. This line of treatment helps in the reversal of thyroiditis condition in a natural way.

Unlike other treatment procedures that jump straight to symptom management, we address the root-cause of the disease. Our treatment for Thyroiditis has proved to achieve a near cure and symptom-free state. We focus on diet, use of potent herbs, meditation, massage with herbal oils and yoga. These classical practices have proven to be very helpful in our Thyroiditis Treatment.

Understand how we can help you with Thyroiditis ..

Phases of Thyroiditis

  1. Thyrotoxic phase - During this phase, your thyroid is inflamed and produces an excess of hormones, resulting in transient thyrotoxicosis.
  1. Hypothyroid phase - After a few weeks or months of high thyroid hormone release, your thyroid will run out of thyroid hormones to release. This results in hypothyroidism, or a lack of thyroid hormones. The hypothyroid phase is frequently persistent in Hashimoto's thyroiditis and radiation-induced thyroiditis.
  1. Euthyroid phase - Thyroid hormone levels are normal throughout the euthyroid period. This phase may occur briefly after the thyrotoxic phase before transitioning to the hypothyroid phase, or it may occur at the end when your thyroid gland has healed from inflammation and can maintain a normal hormone level.

Types of Thyroiditis

  1. Hashimoto’s thyroiditis

Antithyroid antibodies produce this autoimmune disorder, also known as chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis. It is the most prevalent cause of hypothyroidism and the most common type of thyroiditis.

  1. Silent thyroiditis

It is caused due to an autoimmune condition which is caused by antithyroid antibodies.

  1. Postpartum thyroiditis

This is an autoimmune disorder caused by antithyroid antibodies that can develop within a year after giving birth. It is quite uncommon.

  1. Radiation-induced thyroiditis

It is a disorder caused by radiation therapy, which is used to treat some tumors, or by radioactive iodine, which is used to cure hyperthyroidism.

  1. Subacute thyroiditis

Also known as de Quervain's thyroiditis, is a painful illness that is considered to be caused by a virus. Upper respiratory infections are frequently the precursors.

  1. Acute infectious thyroiditis

It is a very uncommon illness caused by an infectious organism or bacteria.

  1. Drug-induced thyroiditis

It is a disease caused by the use of certain drugs, including amiodarone, interferons, lithium, and cytokines. It only occurs in a small percentage of persons who use these medicines.

  1. Riedel thyroiditis

It is an uncommon condition characterized by prolonged thyroid gland inflammation and fibrosis. Fibrosis is defined as tissue thickening or scarring.
