Why EliteAyurveda

How Does Our Motor Neurone Disease Treatment Benefit You?

In motor neuron disease, the cells of the brain, spinal cord and nerves are damaged which causes weakness that gets worse with time. Motor neurons are the nerve cells that send chemical messages to the body in order to perform any action. In MND, these neurons are damaged and inhibit bodily movements, and slowly you lose control over your movements. This hampers activities like swallowing, speech, movements of arms and legs, and breathing.
“Avarana vata vyadhi” is the term for motor neuron disease in Ayurveda. According to Ayurveda, MND is caused due to vitiation of Vata dosha and kshaya roga. Vata dosha being responsible for respiration, blood flow, lymphatic movements, excretion and reproduction; when vitiated, causes abnormalities in all the movements it is associated with. Vitiation of Vata dosha also leads to vitiation in Kapha and Pitta dosha, which inhibits the dhatu formation and elimination of Mala, thus, manifesting the disease. In such cases, Vata dosha teams up with Kapha dosha and leads to reduced activities, faintness and spasm.
The treatment for MND in Ayurveda includes detoxification of the body by procedures like swedana, niruha basti, vamana, virechana, and sarpipana. Further the procedure is also accompanied by intake of certain herbal formulations that help in balancing the vitiated doshas. This line of treatment helps in reversing the condition of MND from its root cause.

Understand how we can help you with Motor neuron disease .

MND

Motor neuron disease is a collection of medical diseases that eventually cause the nerves in the spine and brain to lose function. The issue arises as a result of neuron death. These are the nerves that control the muscles that allow you to move, breathe, talk, and swallow. This deterioration proceeds with the passage of time. This, in turn, leads to handicap. Ayurvedic therapy for motor neuron illness will undoubtedly help you overcome your impairment.

We give treatment for Motor Neuron Disease, and we do it successfully. The major goal of treatment is to keep the illness from worsening so that the patient does not become disabled and has a good quality of life.

It affects both types of motor neurons:

  1. Lower motor neurons – When it affects lower motor neurons it is called LMND i.e Lower neuron motor disease.
  2. Upper motor neurons – When it affects upper motor neurons it is called as UMND i.e Upper neuron motor disease.

Types of Motor neuron disease

  1. Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS): In ALS both- upper and lower motor neurons are affected. This takes away control over walk, talk, and chewing, swallowing and breathing movements. This weakens the body and makes it stiff and sometimes induces twitching in muscles.
  2. Primary Lateral Sclerosis (PLS): In PLS, only the upper motor neurons are affected which takes away control over actions of arms and legs. It is also associated with poor co-ordination and balance. Speech is also affected and becomes slow.
  3. Progressive Bulbar Palsy (PBP): in this, motor neurons present in the brain stem are damaged, which are situated at the base of the brain. This takes away the control from actions like chewing, swallowing, and speaking. It also makes it hard to control emotions and fluctuates dramatically.
  4. Pseudobulbar palsy: It is similar to PBP. The person has no control over emotions and may cry or laugh with no control.
  5. Progressive muscular atrophy: In this the lower neurons are affected and the effects start with the hand and then spread to other parts of the body. In this condition, the muscles get weakened and may cramp.
  6. Spinal Muscular Atrophy: This is caused due to genetics and affects the lower motor neurons. In this condition, the protein produced to protect these neurons is affected, which causes weakening in upper legs, arms and the trunk. This is further classified into 4 types depending on the symptoms observed: Type 1: (Werdnig- Hoffmann disease): This is observed in kids of 6 months of age and have muscle weakening, poor reflexes and trouble with breathing and swallowing. Type 2: This starts to manifest between the ages of 6-12 years. Kids may find difficulty in standing and cannot walk alone. They may also experience trouble with breathing. Type 3: (Kugelberg-Welander disease): This starts to manifest in the ages of 2-17. This affects a child's ability to stand, run, climb stairs, etc. Type 4: This starts to manifest after the age of 30 and affects the muscles weakening and inducing reflexes like shaking, twitching along with breathing problems.

Can Ayurveda completely reverse the condition of motor neuron disease?

Motor Neuron Disease is a degenerative disease. In such cases, the treatment's primary goal is to halt the disease's progression. Because there is no medication available in western medicine to reverse this degeneration.

So, aside from making misleading promises about what we can achieve in a condition like ataxia. The major goal of Motor Neuron Condition therapy is to prevent the disease from deteriorating further.

In terms of symptoms, every patient benefits from them, and this improvement allows a patient to live a normal life. Even after the medications have been completed, we consistently urge patients to follow the food and lifestyle advice.

Ayurveda about motor neuron disease

“Avarana vata vyadhi” is the term for motor neuron disease in Ayurveda. According to Ayurveda, MND is caused due to vitiation of Vata dosha and kshaya roga. Ayurvedic treatment for motor neuron disease:

MND is treated in the following ways:

  • To prevent the nerve cells from deteriorating further.
  • Assuring that the remaining cells are properly nourished.
  • To assist with muscle nutrition.

The fundamental goal of MND therapy is to halt the disease's progression and prevent the body from decaying. Life is not the same as sickness. And MND is a challenge to life, which we feel Elite Ayurveda may help to restore.

To prevent the nerve cells from deteriorating further. For this condition, we use the two-point strategy for motor neuron disease therapy.

  1. Body detoxification:

The first step is to eliminate the body's deep-seated poisons. Toxins may come from the environment or be present as a result of the body's "genetic" makeup.

This is when Panchakarma comes in. We are unable to do substantial panchakarma on MND patients. Because there is too much deterioration in the body of a person with motor neuron disease. As a result, we make excellent use of medications and panchakarma.

  1. Rasayana Therapy:

Rasayana is a nourishing medication. These are extremely nourishing to the body. These can range from basic combinations like Ashwagandha, Amala, and Mulethi to more complicated ones like Brahmarasayana or Chyawanprasha. It is up to the doctors to choose the appropriate drug for the patient's condition.

To Assist Muscle Growth and Nourishment

We may complete this stage by completing the previous one. Bruhman chikitsa aids in the prevention of muscular deterioration. Panchakarma methods like Njavara Kizhi, in addition to medications, aid in this.

At Elite Ayurveda, we follow a correct MND treatment line to achieve these three processes that aid in the treatment of motor neuron disease.
