How Does Our Heart Valve Regurgitation Treatment Benefit You?

Heart valve regurgitation, also known as valve insufficiency, is a condition in which the valve may not close properly and let blood through. This is known as leaky heart valve, which causes uncontrolled blood flow. Due to this leakage, sometimes enough blood is not being pumped to the rest of the body, and may force the heart to work harder. This condition may lead to sudden cardiac arrest, heart failure and death. The causes of regurgitation are enlargement of heart, congenital heart conditions, injury, trauma, mitral valve prolapse, pulmonary hypertension, enlarged aorta, etc.
Heart valve regurgitation comes under the category of Hrudaya vikara of ayurveda. According to ayurveda, the heart is the seat of kapha dosha and its functionalities are governed by Vata dosha. When there is vitiation in Kapha and Vata dosha, it leads to manifestation of hrudaya vikara. Further the toxins are concentrated in blood that leads to further complications. Moreover, in this condition the main vitiated doshas are Vata and Kapha, which is due to the fact of weak metabolic fire (Agni).
Thus, the treatment of heart valve regurgitation in ayurveda focuses on balancing the vitiated doshas and strengthening the digestive fire. This is done by various therapies like lamghana, virechana, intake deepen pachan medications, Rasayana and ojaskara oushadhas. The treatment can also opt for panchakarma procedure for complete detoxification of the body and strengthening metabolic fire. The herbs accompanied in the entire procedure are: Arjuna, dalchini, haldi, ashwagandha, brahmi, shankhpushpi, etc. A balanced diet and exercise regimen are suggested to a patient in order to pacify the effect of vitiated doshas and avoid further worsening of condition. This line of treatment helps relief from symptoms and reversal from the condition.

Understand how we can help you with Heart Valve Regurgitation

Types of Heart Valve Regurgitation

  1. Tricuspid regurgitation: The valve between the two right heart chambers (right ventricle and right atrium) does not seal correctly in tricuspid valve regurgitation. Blood seeps backward into the upper right chamber as a result (right atrium). Tricuspid valve regurgitation might be present at birth (congenital heart disease), and can also be caused due to other health conditions.
  2. Pulmonary regurgitation: Pulmonary regurgitation occurs when the pulmonary valve, which controls blood flow from the right side of the heart to the lungs, fails to shut properly, allowing a part of the blood to escape back into the right side of the heart.
  3. Mitral regurgitation: Mitral valve regurgitation is a form of heart valve illness in which the valve connecting the left and right heart chambers does not shut completely, causing blood to seep backward. The most prevalent form of heart valve disease is this one.
  4. Aortic regurgitation: It is a problem that arises when the aortic valve in your heart does not shut completely. As a result, part of the blood pushes out of the left ventricle, your heart's primary pumping chamber, and seeps backward. Your heart may be unable to adequately pump blood to the rest of your body as a result of the leak. You may feel tired and out of breath as a result.

Complications of hypertension

  1. Stroke or heart attack: High blood pressure can induce atherosclerosis, or the hardening and thickening of arteries, which can lead to a heart attack, stroke, or other issues.
  2. Aneurysm: Aneurysms arise when blood arteries weaken and bulge as a result of high blood pressure. This condition can be fatal.
  3. Heart attack: The heart needs to work harder to pump blood against the increasing pressure in your veins, causing the thinking of the walls of the heart's chamber. The swollen muscle may eventually struggle to pump enough blood to fulfill your body's demands, leading to heart failure.
  4. Kidney blood arteries may become weak and constricted. This can make it difficult for the organ to operate properly.
  5. Blood vessels in the eyes are thickened, constricted, or torn. This may cause eyesight loss.
  6. Metabolic syndrome: Increased waist circumference, elevated triglycerides, reduced high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol (the "good" cholesterol), high blood pressure, and high insulin levels are all symptoms of this syndrome. Diabetes, heart disease, and stroke are all more probable if you have these illnesses.
  7. Trouble in understanding and remembering: High blood pressure that is uncontrolled might impair your capacity to think, recall, and learn. People with high blood pressure are more likely to have memory or understanding problems.
  8. Dementia: Blood flow to the brain can be restricted by narrowed or clogged arteries, resulting in dementia (vascular dementia). Vascular dementia can also be caused by a stroke that blocks blood supply to the brain.
