‘Kashtartava’ is the term for Dysmenorrhea in ayurvedic text. The main reason for this condition is the aggravation of Vata and Pitta dosha. Vata is the Dosha that governs the movement of menstrual blood out of the body, according to Ayurveda. Apana vata is a vata that moves downward and out of the pelvic floor.
