The prostate gland is present in men, which is the size of walnuts. It promotes the formation of semen that contains sperm. As the age of men increases, the size of its prostate also increases, which starts causing problems. The common problems associated with prostate are prostatitis, enlarged prostate and prostate cancer. The symptoms associated with prostate diseases are frequent urge to urinate, difficulty in starting urination, weak urine system, urinary tract infections, blood in urine, dribbling at the end of urination, inability to completely empty the bladder, etc. This further leads to complications in kidney, bladder and urinary tract, as the urine is blocked in the bladder.
According to ayurveda, the reproductive fluid in men is related to shukra dhatu, which when overused, leads to prostate problems. When shukra dhatu is disturbed, it causes symptoms that are closely related to prostate disease. Further, the vitiation of shukra dhatu is linked to imbalances in the doshas and their accumulation.
Ayurvedic treatment of prostate disease focuses on balancing these vitiated doshas and also proper nourishment of shukra dhatu. The line of treatment involves shaman chikitsa and shodhana chikitsa. These are also accompanied by panchakarma procedures that help in eliminating toxins from the body and also balance the vitiated doshas. Further, the entire treatment also suggests intake of certain foods that nourish shukra dhatu and avoid the symptoms in future.

“The ayurvedic approach of disease looks for the root cause and not merely the symptoms. The basic principles of Ayurveda consider an individual human a specific identity and hence his treatment giving importance to the treatment of the patient rather than the treatment of the disease.”
“Since Ayurveda focuses on the root-cause of the disease, it effectively reduces the risk of severe health complications arising out of the untreated underlying cause. Patients who complete their Ayurveda treatment have a reduced risk of health complications later.”
"Heal your body naturally with 5000-year-old knowledge of Ayurveda and Modern Science. From its authenticity, structured approach and personalisation play a very important role in complementing the effect of medicines as well as sustaining the benefit of treatment after the medicines have ended."
1. Prostatitis (Inflammation of the prostate): This condition affects men of any age and are classified into two types:
2. Non-cancerous enlargement of prostate (BPH): As men become older, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), or non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate, becomes increasingly frequent. It isn't life-threatening, but it can have a big impact on your quality of life. The prostate gland (which covers the top of the urethra) enlarges, narrowing the urethra and putting pressure on the bladder's base. This can cause a stoppage (obstruction) in the flow of urine
3. Prostate cancer: Prostate cancer is usually observed in men above the age of 50. In this, the cancer cells are restricted to the prostate gland in the early stages. Cancer cells penetrate the vascular and lymphatic systems early in more aggressive varieties of prostate cancer and migrate to other regions of the body, where they create secondary tumors, mainly in the bones.
The first question that comes to mind while considering any disease is, "Does Ayurveda discuss prostate enlargement?"
Certainly, Ayurveda has nothing to do with the disease. However, there is a "Mutraghat" condition, which is explained in great depth. Mutraghata is a condition in which the flow of urine is obstructed. Sushruta Samhita describes an "Ashthila" state under the same circumstances.
In males, a gland is positioned between the urinary canal and the rectum. When this gland grows in size, it obstructs the flow of urine and facets. This causes the urinary bladder to become distended and the urine to travel upward.
Ayurvedic treatment for prostate disease:
The treatment of BPH with Ayurveda is never complex. This disease also does not necessitate surgical intervention. At Elite Ayurveda, we provide two forms of treatment:
Shamana chikitsa:
This is what palliative care is all about. When the prostate gland is between 26 and 46 cc in size. And the volume of leftover urine should not exceed 90 cc. The therapy consists only of medications. Our doctors make a diagnosis based on the Dosha and the patient's condition. As a result, the following criteria are used to choose drugs.
Shodhana chikitsa:
Panchakarma is required when the size of the gland is greater than 46 cc and the residual volume is greater than 90 cc. It's crucial to get rid of the vitiated doshas. As a result, a patient must adhere to a Panchakarma regimen. Because this is a Vata condition. As a result, Basti therapy is always a major component of treatment. In these instances, we do Uttar Basti or basic Basti. BPH patients must stay in our facility for 8 days. So that the sufferer can receive adequate care.
