How Does Our Men's Conditions for Low Libido Treatment Benefit You?

Low libido simply means lower sex drive, which is a condition seen in both, men and women. There are many reasons behind this like- low testosterone levels, prescription medicines, very less or no exercise, excess alcohol consumption and drug use, depression, anxiety, stress, etc. As there are many causes for low libido, it becomes important to see what actually is affecting. Sometimes even a small chat with a partner helps to get rid of this situation, but in some cases, proper medical attention might be needed.
‘Klaibya’ is the term for low libido in ayurveda, which means disinterest in sexual activity and loss of desire for sex. Shukra dhatu is the tissue present in male reproductive system, and many disorders in men are caused due to improper nourishment of these tissues. When there is an imbalance in doshas of the body, the essence of food ingested does not reach tissues, leading to several problems.
Thus, while treating low libido in ayurveda, it becomes important to balance the vitiated doshas and enhance the nourishment of tissues. Sometimes, the underlying issues like stress and depression also cause low libido, which needs the clearance of emotional and mental Ama. This is done via intake of several herbs like ashwagandha, shatavari, shilajit, garlic, salabmishri, etc. that help in sexual drive. Further the treatment is also associated with therapies of panchakarma that helps in clearing body channels and enhancing rejuvenation of cells in the reproductive system. This line of treatment helps in reversing the condition and attaining pleasure.

Low libido causes

  1. Low testosterone: Testosterone is an important hormone in male reproductive system that is produced by testicles. It is responsible for building muscle and bone mass that stimulates sperm production. This hormone also plays an important role in sexual drive. When testosterone levels decreases, the sex drive automatically decreases, that leads to low libido.
  2. Medications: Certain medications may lead to lowering of testosterone levels in male, which leads to low libido. These medications can be noted as:
  • Blood pressure medications
  • ACE inhibitors
  • Chemotherapy
  • Hormones used to treat prostate cancer
  • Corticosteroids
  • Opioid pain relief medications
  • Cimetidine
  • Anabolic steroids
  • Antidepressants
  1. Restless leg syndrome: The uncontrolled need to move your legs is known as restless legs syndrome (RLS). According to research, men with RLS are more likely than those without RLS to develop erectile dysfunction (ED). When a man can't get or keep an erection, he has ED.
  2. Depression: Depression changes everything in a person’s life, including sex life. This leads to lack of interest in sex. Low libido is also caused due to intake of certain anti-depressants that inhibit arousal levels.
  3. Chronic illness: When a person is constantly under effect of illness, the sex drive automatically decreases. The illness like type 2 diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and other conditions like lung, heart, kidney or liver failure, also affect the sexual drive.
  4. Sleep problems: Deprival of sleep can also obstruct in sexual drive. Men with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) experience low testosterone levels, which leads to low libido.
  5. Stress: Sexual desire may be reduced if you are distracted by events or periods of severe stress. This is because stress can induce hormonal imbalances. When you're stressed, your arteries might constrict. This constriction reduces blood flow and may result in ED. Stress is difficult to avoid. Relationship issues, divorce, confronting the death of a loved one, financial concerns, a new baby, or a hectic work environment are just a few of the life events that can have a significant impact on sex desire.
  6. Other causes of low libido include, little exercise, excess consumption of alcohol, drug use and low self-esteem.
