Completely Treat Epilepsy

Why EliteAyurveda

How are we able to Treat Epilepsy Completely?

Epilepsy is a group of non-communicable neurological disorders that are identified by vigorous shaking due to abnormal electrical activity in the brain. These types of vigorous shaking may lead to physical injuries like breaking of bones or some accident. In epilepsy, seizures recur from time to time, which occurs due to abnormal neuronal activity in the cortex of the brain. The reasons for epilepsy may be varied, like brain injury, stroke, brain tumors, infections of the brain or some birth defects.

“Apasmara” is the term for epilepsy in Ayurveda. This can be manifested due to imbalance in doshas and with respect to doshas vitiated, epilepsy is categorized as Vataja seizures, Pittaja seizures, Kaphaja seizures, and Sannipatika seizures. The reasons for seizures may be consumption of unhealthy food, long term grief, subconscious fear, unethical celebrations, debilitated mind or imbalanced doshas.

The line of treatment for epilepsy follows detoxification by Panchakarma procedures, purgation, emesis, nasal medications, psychological assistance, etc. Special herbal formulations are provided to balance the vitiated doshas and release the toxins accumulated in channels and rejuvenation therapy. The holistic approach of treating epilepsy helps in complete reversal of the condition.

Types of Epilepsy

  1. Generalized epilepsy: In this type of epilepsy, the seizures start from both sides of the brain and that affects the network of brain cells from both sides. The seizures are of two types – a. generalized motor seizures i.e. the seizures in which there is no control over body movements; b. generalized non-motor seizures i.e. the seizures in which you might freeze and stare at one thing continuously.
  2. Focal epilepsy: In this type of epilepsy, the seizures develop in one part of brain and are categorized into four types:
  3. Focal aware seizures: When you know what’s happening during seizures.
  4. Focal impaired awareness seizures: When you don’t understand what’s happening or forget what happened.
  5. Focal motor seizures: In this case, you might start twitching, splashing, rubbing hands or walking around.
  6. Focal non-motor seizures: In this case, it changes the way you feel and think and have intense emotions, strange feelings or reactions like racing heart, goose bumps or waves of heat or cold.
  7. Generalized and focal epilepsy: This type combines both type of epilepsies – generalized and focal epilepsy
  8. Unknown if generalized or focal epilepsy: In this type, doctors are not sure which type are seizures and usually happens when the only one to witness seizures is you, and no one else to describe what actually happened.

Treatment

The treatment line for epilepsy in Ayurveda follows following procedures:

  1. Panchakarma treatment: This includes purgation, swedana, abhyanga, vasti, shirodhara procedures to eliminate toxins from the body.
  2. Psychological assistance
  3. Herbal formulations: Herbs like yastimadhu, tagara, lasuna, amalaki, hingu, etc are given to stabilize doshas and help in epilepsy.
  4. Rejuvenation therapy: This is done to improve production of new cells and also nourish cells.

Along with this line of treatment, a diet and exercise plan is given in order to avoid further vitiation of dosha that will contribute to the condition and avoid any occurrence of seizures in future.
