Effectively Heal Acne

Why EliteAyurveda

How are we able to Treat Acne

Acne is a common skin condition characterized by pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads. According to Ayurveda, acne is primarily caused by an imbalance in the doshas, particularly Pitta dosha, leading to inflammation and impurities in the blood.

Acharya Sushruta in Sushruta Samhita, Sutrasthana, 24/7, mentions:

"Pittam Kaphascha Medascha Yatra Ekatrikasya Dosha Prakopaha"

This shloka explains the involvement of Pitta and Kapha doshas along with Meda (fat tissues) in causing skin conditions like acne.

Our Unique Approach

“Yauvana pidika” is the term for acne in Ayurveda. The vitiation of Kapha, Vata, and Rakta causes the condition Yauvana pidika. One of the causative factors has been identified as Swabhava (natural status). Though Shukra pradurbhava (manifestation of Shukra Dhatu) occurs during the Taruna avastha (adolescent phase), Sharangadhara mentions Vaktre Snigdhata (unctuousness on the face) and Pidika (boil) development on the face as Mala (waste product) of Shukra Dhatu. As a result, the onset of acne and acne scars at this age is expected.

Local creams, antibiotics, and steroids solely cover the symptoms; they do not address the underlying source of the problem, which is why the problem recurs so frequently. Patients should follow a personalized Acne treatment strategy that includes a healthy diet and specialized natural herbal medicine. The therapy focuses on calming Pitta by improving digestion and clearing the body of impurities with individualized herbal medications and home remedies.

At EliteAyurveda, we adopt a holistic and individualized approach to treat Acne, focusing on:

  • Dosha Balancing: Our treatments aim to balance the aggravated Pitta and Kapha doshas, which are often the root cause of acne and skin inflammation.

What is Acne?

Acne is a common skin condition characterized by pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads. It occurs when hair follicles become clogged with oil and dead skin cells. Acne can appear on the face, forehead, chest, upper back, and shoulders.

Treatment

The treatment for Acne at EliteAyurveda includes:

As the root cause of it lies in dosha imbalances and lifestyle, they are rectified and Acne is managed with a treatment plan that includes detoxification by Panchakarma procedures to remove Ama from the body, intake of herbal medications to balance the doshas, maintaining a proper diet and exercise regimen, and external application of herbal lepa or oils to reduce inflammation and soothe the skin. This approach helps in curing the condition from its root cause and prevents recurrence.

Acne Vulgaris

Comedones

It is caused by dead keratin flakes and sebum blocks a hair follicle. These types of acne do not cause inflammation.
Whitehead (closed comedones) - Whiteheads appear when a pore is clogged by sebum and dead skin cells. The top of the pore, unlike blackheads, closes up. It seems to be a little hump protruding from the skin's surface.
Blackheads (open comedones) - Blackheads form when a combination of oil and dead skin cells clogs a pore. The top of the pore stays open despite the fact that the bulk of the hole is plugged. As a result, the surface has a unique black tone to it.

Papules

When the walls around your pores break down due to acute inflammation, papules form. As a result, the pores become stiff and blocked, as well as painful to the touch. Normally, the skin around these pores is pink.

Pustules

When the walls around your pores break down, pustules can occur. Pustules, unlike papules, are filled with pus. These lumps are generally red and protrude from the skin. On top of them, they frequently have yellow or white heads.

Cystic Acne

Cysts can form when a mix of germs, sebum, and dead skin cells block pores. Clogs develop beneath the surface of the skin and are deeper than nodules. To the touch, these huge red or white lumps are typically uncomfortable. Cysts are the most common type of acne, and they occur as a result of a severe infection. This form of acne also has the highest risk of scars.

Nodules Or Nodular Acne

When blocked, swollen pores are exposed to further irritation, nodules form. Nodules are deeper beneath the skin than pustules and papules and are difficult to cure.

Acne Conglobata

Acne conglobata

The condition in which nodules and cysts are formed together are known as acne conglobate, which are severe forms of acne. They are deeply embedded in the epidermal layer and leave behind scars or disfigurement on the face. This is common in adolescents and is seen on the chest, back, thighs and face. These bumps are filled with stinky pus and it is recommended to seek medical attention. .

Acne Tarda

Acne Tarda

It is also referred to as adult acne as it occurs in adolescence. It is most common in females with endocrine dysfunction or PCOS which leads to hyperandrogenism. This is initially found in lower parts of the face and is inflammatory acne. Further, if triggered, can be found on other parts of the body like thighs, arms, stomach and back.

Acne Mechanica

Acne Mechanica

The appearance of acne mechanica is similar to acne vulgaris but is different in the way it is caused. Acne mechanica is caused due to application of pressure, rubbing or friction from clothes and wearables/ accessories, which results in development of acne. This is common in people with sensitive skin and involves excess physical activity.
