One of the most common disorders impacting women nowadays is polycystic ovary syndrome. It’s more than just having irregular periods.
PCOS affects about 10 million women worldwide and affects nearly one in every ten women.
Have you ever wondered what all girls with pcos have in common?
The biggest question they will have is WHAT TO EAT and HOW MUCH TO EAT.
And the list continues on… Before we go into the diet and dietary habits for pcod, let’s take a quick look at what pcod/pcos is.
Polycystic Ovary illness (PCOD) is a hormonal illness in women that is characterised by a set of signs and symptoms. This health disorder can interfere with a woman’s menstrual cycle, heart function, and attractiveness. Polycystic ovary syndrome causes many tiny cysts in the ovaries in women.
PCOS affects not only women, but also girls as young as 11! Polycystic ovaries are often bigger and denser than normal ovaries.
Keep an eye out for these symptoms to see if you have PCOD.
- Periodic irregularities
- Fertility decline
- Obesity or abnormal weight increase
- Cardiovascular (heart) complications
- Acne or rashes on the skin
- hair loss
- Excessive body and facial hair
- Depression and anxiety
- Insulin sensitivity
Let’s have a look at ways to combat PCOD now.
At EliteAyurveda we focus on PCOD management under the supervision of a doctor, as well as the following criteria:
Eat properly.
If you are obese, all you need are weight reduction strategies and DETOXIFICATION.
Whether you have PCOS or not, being overweight increases your chances of being insulin resistant. Even a 5% weight loss will help reduce insulin resistance. Eat more weight loss foods and limit your intake of sugary, salty, and fatty foods. Increase your protein consumption to at least 30% of your total diet; keep carbs to less than 50% of your total diet.
Select natural or unprocessed foods.
Choose fresh and seasonal fruits and vegetables.
Choose whole grains such as wheat, brown rice, oats, and millets.
Instead of sugary or processed carbohydrates, choose healthful, high-fiber carbohydrates. • Maintain a healthy carbohydrate-protein-fat ratio. • Instead of large meals, eat small meals and nutritious snacks throughout the day.
Exercise
Is it necessary for me to exercise?
Yes! Exercise is extremely helpful for girls with PCOS since it lowers insulin levels and can aid in weight loss. Exercise is especially effective at lowering insulin levels after a meal. So, if possible, take a walk after a substantial lunch. Any increase in physical activity is beneficial, so select an activity, sport, or workout that you enjoy. If you aren’t doing much exercise right now, start lightly and work your way up to your fitness objective. If you only exercise sometimes, attempt Moderate activity like walking or swimming for at least 30 to 90 minutes every day.
De-stress
Chronic stress exacerbates the problem. Find techniques to de-stress your mind and body. For example, getting at least 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night can help reduce stress, and you can also try our personalized Ayurveda Treatments, as well as yoga and meditation.
It is critical for PCOS girls to understand that they are not alone. We at EliteAyurveda are here to help you make Ayurveda work for you.
Our Ayurveda Treatment for PCOD / PCOS
A woman in her twenties came to EliteAyurveda for help when her acne and weight gain got out of hand. She had skipped 4 periods in the prior 6 months and had gained more than 8 kilogrammes. She also noted a rise in her facial hair, which she found distressing. The scan diagnosed PCOS, and the blood test revealed increased fasting blood sugar. Since then, she underwent treatment with us, where she slimmed down and changed dramatically.
Her cycles stabilised, and many of her previous complaints vanished.
Treatment for PCOS at EliteAyurveda can last anywhere from 30 to 90 days and consists of personalised treatments and therapies that have a lasting impact on PCOS symptoms and weight gain. Our experts will tailor your PCOS treatment plan in Ayurveda based on the severity of your condition and the specific changes to your food and way of life that are necessary to restore your health.
