Sweet is a word that, by itself, provides satisfaction and happiness, and it can be connected to any other word. It causes everyone to memorise beautiful objects, whether living or nonliving. The sweetness is leading to unpleasant life experiences. However, the narrative has changed and circumstances have evolved. Clearly, this sweetness is killing us all through malice. Diabetes- name suffices. This condition is causing enormous difficulties for everyone. Consequently, diabetes sounds to everyone like a hospice.

How Diabetes complications result in difficulty

It is an established fact that no other disease is as fatal as diabetes. These are the complications of Diabetes that are proving to be fatal and hazardous. Diabetes is not a disease of a specific system; it is a disease of the entire organism from which there is no escape. Clearly, sugars are the principal source of nutrition for the majority of the body. And for the body, using the carbohydrates available in the blood for nourishment is the simplest task. When this substance is excessively present in the body, it causes problems. Two conditions are associated with Diabetes:

Sugar is present in the blood. However, the nutrients are not “available” to the cells. Because the cells cannot absorb this blood sugar. Consequently, this blood sugar continues to float in the circulation.

Insulin is not functioning properly, resulting in poor metabolism of sugar, which continues to rise in the bloodstream.

These are the complications of diabetes, which contribute to its lethal nature; they include both chronic and acute complications.

Few Complications Associated with Diabetes

Both types of diabetes ultimately result in hyperglycemia, or elevated blood sugar levels. Increased blood sugar levels cause injury to the retina of the eye, the kidneys, the nerves, and the blood vessels over time.

Diabetes-related damage to the retina (diabetic retinopathy) is the primary cause of blindness.

Diabetes-related kidney damage (diabetic nephropathy) is the primary cause of renal failure.

The Diabetes-related nerve damage (diabetic neuropathy) is the primary cause of foot ulcers and wounds. This often results in foot and limb amputations.

Damage to the neurons of the autonomic nervous system can result in stomach paralysis (gastroparesis). This results in persistent diarrhoea. The same issue exists with the heart and the inability to regulate heart rate and blood pressure during variations in posture.

Diabetes hastens atherosclerosis, the formation of fatty plaques within the arteries, which can result in obstructions or clots. These changes can then lead to heart attack, stroke, and peripheral vascular disease (poor circulation in the limbs and legs).

People with diabetes are predisposed to elevated blood pressure, cholesterol, and triglyceride levels. Together with hyperglycemia, these conditions increase the risk of heart disease, kidney disease, and other blood vessel complications.

Diabetes can contribute to a number of acute medical concerns in the short term.

Other Diabetes Complications

Here are a few severe complications that, if left untreated, could prove fatal for patients.

Opportunities for Infections

Numerous infections are associated with elevated blood sugar levels. And infections are frequently more dangerous for diabetics because their bodies have a diminished capacity to fend off infections. Infections may also deteriorate glucose control, thereby further delaying recovery from infection.

Hypoglycemia

Hypoglycemia, or insufficient blood sugar, occurs occasionally in the majority of diabetics. It is caused by taking an excessive amount of diabetes medication or insulin (sometimes referred to as an insulin reaction), skipping a meal, engaging in more physical activity than usual, consuming excessive amounts of alcohol, or taking certain medications for other conditions. It is crucial to recognise hypoglycemia and always be prepared to manage it. Common symptoms of hypoglycemia include headache, dizziness, impaired concentration, hand tremors, and perspiration. If your blood sugar level is too low, you may collapse or have a seizure.

Ketoacidosis

Diabetic ketoacidosis is a critical condition in which uncontrolled hyperglycemia (usually due to a complete lack of insulin or a relative deficiency of insulin) causes an accumulation of acidic waste products known as ketones in the blood over time. Extreme levels of ketones can be extremely hazardous. This typically occurs in individuals with type 1 diabetes who lack adequate blood glucose control. Infection, stress, trauma, absent medications such as insulin, or medical emergencies such as stroke and heart attack can precipitate diabetic ketoacidosis.

Syndrome of hyperosmolar hyperglycemic nonketotic

The hyperosmolar hyperglycemic nonketotic syndrome is a serious condition characterised by extremely elevated blood sugar levels. The body attempts to eliminate the excess blood sugar through the urine. This frequently results in dehydration so severe that it can cause seizures, coma, and even mortality. This syndrome typically affects individuals with type 2 diabetes who are unable to control their blood sugar levels, are dehydrated, or are experiencing stress, an injury, a stroke, or are taking certain medications, such as steroids.

Although some assert that Ayurveda has a cure for diabetes, this is not entirely accurate. Clearly, there are some possibilities for reversal. Where diabetes is a secondary condition. The condition caused by another illness or condition. In this secondary form of Diabetes, another condition is the underlying cause. For instance, in the case of pregnancy. Ayurveda has a theory for the management of diabetes, despite the fact that there are certain possibilities of a Diabetes cure. The guiding principle of Ayurvedic Diabetes Management is the optimal maintenance of blood sugar levels and the management of diabetes complications.
