These conditions share a trajectory, not just a location. What makes them one clinical area is that each follows the same arc: inflammation that recurs at a fixed site, drains, and progressively converts soft tissue into structure. Treating the individual lesion does not interrupt that arc, which is why all of them recur after drainage or excision.
